Knitwear designer Rachel Elizabeth Carleton

I am a knitwear designer with a strong point of view from conceptualization to product realization, extensive technical knowledge of knitwear construction on both a domestic and commercial level, and an ever growing desire to expand my learning to experiment with new textures, yarns, and techniques. I am obsessed with discovering stitches and details from knitwear's rich history or cultural uses to apply to my designs, or pulling more obscure inspiration from the natural world to interpret through texture and yarn in my own way.

I graduated from the University of Cincinnati's Design Architecture Art & Planning program in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science of Design degree, focusing strongly in knitwear. I earned two awards for my graduate collection, Aposematic, as well as having it published in the fourth volume of "Emerging Fashion Designers" in 2014. I currently reside and work in Columbus, OH as a knitwear designer for a major retail brand.
